Breath of Fire
(Kapalabhati)
This is one of the most well known breathing exercises. Literally meaning shining skull, it increases oxygen in the brain and creates heat in the body. A physical practice, it improves the cardiovascular system and leaves one feeling energized.
Alternative Nostril Breathing
(Anuloma Viloma)
This alternate nostril breathing is a classic breathing technique used to balance the brain hemispheres, creating emotional and spiritual balance. It has a calming effect on the nervous system while reducing stress in the body and mind.

Scientific studies show that deep breathing helps with stress and anxiety by supporting the nervous system
“Deep abdominal breathing encourages full oxygen exchange — that is, the beneficial trade of incoming oxygen for outgoing carbon dioxide. Not surprisingly, it can slow the heartbeat and lower or stabilize blood pressure.”
“A breathing technique said to help people with COVID-19 symptoms is getting praise from “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling and CNN broadcaster Chris Cuomo.”
“Deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to your brain and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes a state of calmness. Breathing techniques help you feel connected to your body—it brings your awareness away from the worries in your head and quiets your mind.”
“Les exercices de respiration visent à rouvrir les poumons et à évacuer les sécrétions. Comme on sait que les pneumonies et les problèmes respiratoires figurent parmi les principales complications liées à la COVID-19, on comprend la pertinence d’un tel exercice pour les gens atteints.”
“The research findings show that the advice to “take a deep breath” may not just be a cliché. Exercises involving volitional breathing appear to alter the connectivity between parts of the brain and allow access to internal sites that normally are inaccessible to us. “

The Mission
Introducing Tripura, the world’s first Intelligent Breathing Coach! Ever since discovering the power of ancient breathing techniques to recover her lost voice after a serious accident, Anne-Marie Denault is on a mission to share the benefits of proper breathing to the world. She envisioned a breathing coach manifested as an avatar guiding users through customized breathing sessions helping them achieve specific wellness goals. In addition to offering an extensive library of ancient breathing techniques, Tripura will measure the breath quality and pulse, and adapt the sessions based on this biofeedback. Starting with a mobile application, and expanding to immersive experiences from corporate and living rooms to collective sensory experiences. The vision for Tripura, the intelligent breathing coach, is to become an interactive hologram offering multimedia experienced via Augmented Reality (AR) through technologies such as the Microsoft Hololens, powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Grounded in R&D, the benefits of proper breathing will be assessed through scientific studies. This project is supported by the Ministere de l’Economie et de l’Innovation (MEI) and the Business Development of Canada (BDC).
